Zac Wilson
Zac Wilson is a photo-based artist who uses photography as a form of self-expression. His photography mixes fragments of real life with staged scenarios, as well as documentation to create his own interpretation of the south. Drawing on his experiences growing up in this region, he seeks to challenge common misconceptions and reveal the rich diversity and nuances of southern life. His photography subverts expectations and confronts assumptions about what it means to be “southern.” His current body of work, “We’re Gonna Have Hotdogs” attempts to showcase both individuality and beauty in the Appalachian area. Ultimately, his photography is a celebration of the people, places and cultures that make up the fabric of southern life.
